Leonel Díaz
Leonel DíazChef Leonel Díaz is a Colchagua native, and his cooking at Clos Apalta Restaurant starts with the valley’s ingredients. Much of the menu comes from the estate’s vegetable garden, with additions from the Santa Cruz farmers market and small producers nearby.
Charles de Bournet
Charles de BournetCharles de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle is the seventh-generation winemaker behind Clos Apalta, continuing a family story that began when Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle and Cyril de Bournet founded the winery in Chile in 1994.

French craft, Chilean flavour
The cooking at Clos Apalta Restaurant brings French precision to Chilean ingredients. Chef Leonel Díaz works with what the valley gives at that moment, from herbs and vegetables picked on the property to seafood, fruit and pantry staples sourced locally. Plates are clean and flavour-led, built to highlight the character of the ingredient and the wines beside it. The style is thoughtful, with careful attention to texture, acidity and balance. You taste the landscape through the produce, and the cellar through the pairings.
Tour, tasting, lunch
Clos Apalta offers a full experience that starts in the vineyard and continues through the gravity-fed winery. After the tour, guests taste the estate’s wines with the team, then sit down for a lunch designed around seasonal ingredients and wine pairings. For a deeper look at the local pantry, guests can also join chef Leonel Díaz at the Santa Cruz farmers market to choose ingredients together, followed by a short cooking class back in the kitchen.
Apalta Valley
The restaurant looks out over the Clos Apalta vineyards, where the light and colours change through the year. Behind the dining room is a private reserve of native woodland, with local flora and wildlife that underline how protected this setting is. Santa Cruz and the wider Colchagua Valley are close by, but the estate itself feels self-contained. It’s a place where you can spend a full day between vines, cellar and table, with the landscape always in view.
From garden to glass
Clos Apalta’s approach is built around care for the land. The estate moved towards organic farming with the aim of protecting the purity of the terroir and the environment around it. That philosophy shows up on the plate in ingredients grown on-site, and in the way dishes are designed to work with the wines, not compete with them. It’s a complete estate table, where the garden, the reserve and the cellar all feed into the same experience.
Residence villas
Clos Apalta Residence is set inside a private nature reserve, with spacious villas overlooking the vineyards. Guests can walk woodland paths, book time in the wellness centre (gym, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi), and stay in new villas with private swimming pools. The rhythm here is simple: privacy, personalised attention, and easy access to the estate’s wines and restaurant. It’s designed for guests who want the full Clos Apalta experience, from vineyard mornings to long lunches and tastings.
“Enjoy fresh, seasonal produce from the Clos Apalta winery and its nature reserve.”
