In 2017, the Restaurant magazine voted chef Ana the world's best female chef. She is a self-taught cook and her food represents the seasons, the region, her personality, her travels, and most of all: femininity.

An incredibly skilled international team, led by Ana Roš is setting new standards in Slovenian cuisine. On Ana's plate, you find ingredients that are almost forgotten but which are so delicious and beautiful that they will impress the most demanding gourmets. Specialties on the menu include potato baked in hay with fermented cottage cheese, smoked chocolate, and pulled Drežnica lamb and crab wrap with lamb broth and egg yolk filled with anchovy cream. For its outstanding culinary efforts, the restaurant received 17.5 Gault Millau points, two Michelin stars, and a special green Michelin star for sustainability. The wine cellar will make the heart of every wine lover beat faster. The wine collection, carefully selected by sommelier Valter Kramar, includes rare biodynamic wines, so rare some are true jewels. 

Hiša Franko ambiance

The Hiša Franko inn has a lot of history, including a legend saying Ernest Hemingway was treated here during the war when the house was a hospital. In one of the rooms overlooking the courtyard, he was writing his famous novel “Farwell to the arms”. During the course of time, Hiša Franko was a roadside inn, a village mill, a big countryside estate, and a hospital during the First World War. Nowadays, this huge estate is simply Hiša Franko. A place where you will feel at home. The surrounding Soča valley is a true paradise destination. In this valley you will find turquoise waters, warm pools of the Nadiža river, almost tropical forests, and flower-covered pastures. The area offers many outdoor activities here, such as hiking, mountain biking, hunting and fishing (fly fishing), paragliding, rafting, canyoning and much more.

Hiša Franko hotel

This former rural inn from the 19th century offers guests 10 modern double rooms. The rooms were added to the house later, intended for restaurant guests who did not feel like driving home after a long wining & dining experience.   The double rooms are all equipped with a private bathroom with a shower, and 2 of them have a spa bath. Don’t forget to order your breakfast for the morning, which includes fresh fruits and the best croissants.
