Chef Anton Schmaus opened his very own restaurant Storstad in June 2014, housed inside the historic Regensburger Goliathhaus. Storstad is Swedish for “big city”. That same year, Storstad was awarded one star in the prestigious Michelin Guide, as well as three out of four hoods, and 17 points from Gault Millau. Next to this, Gault Millau also chose chef Anton as the rising star of the year. The restaurant of Anton Schmaus offers a relaxed fine-dining experience that does not require guests to dress up and wear a tie. Since 2010, the Jeunes Restaurateurs group has welcomed the creative chef as a member of its family.

Storstad’s cuisine
It’s not just the name that’s Swedish at Storstad restaurant. There are Nordic touches in both the chic modern décor and the creative cuisine, with its strong but sophisticated flavours. Specialties on the menu include the excellent beef tartare with kombu, langoustine, green apple; and the Duroc pork with fennel, pimiento de piquillo and ‘Nduja (spreadable pork sausage). Each dish can be perfectly matched with a lovely glass of wine, carefully selected by the sommelier.

The restaurant is situated in the heart of Regensburg, a Bavarian city on the Danube River in southeast Germany, famous for its well-preserved medieval architecture. Interesting sights within walking distance of the restaurant include the Altes Rathaus (old town hall) with Baroque and Gothic elements and a 180-foot clocktower, that houses a history museum. And the iconic Old Stone bridge that crosses the Danube river, dating back all the way to the 12th century.
