Inspired by his childhood hero Jacques Cousteau, owner and chef Christian Mittermeier actually wanted to become a marine explorer when he was a kid. But things turned out quite differently. First, he studied to become a butcher, then to become a cook. Today Christian leads the kitchen at his very own traditional restaurant Villa Mittermeier at the German town Rothenburg ob der Tauber. He considers cooking to be much more than preparing food: it's an act of caring and attention that entails a certain attitude.
