Bernd Werner is chef at Werners Restaurant in Schloss Eberstein. The chef worked in many high-end restaurants in Germany after his culinary education at the Ritter zu Durbach. These include Bamberger Reiter, Kurhaus, and Walk'schen Haus. Today, Bernd runs Schloss Eberstein and Werners Restaurant together with Roswitha, his wife and sommelier. He has received many awards for his outstanding culinary art, like a silver medal in the starter category at the European Championships in Belgium and a coveted Michelin star.

Werners’ cuisine
At Werners Restaurant, top chef Bernd Werner presents a successful culinary fusion of classic and modern cuisine. Using carefully selected produce, he creates sophisticated dishes in a remarkably well-thought-out manner.
Among the chefs’ specialties are the glazed sweetbreads with root vegetables, mushrooms, and parsley butter; and roasted saddle of venison with celery and porcini mushrooms. When it comes to dessert, one of the highlights on the menu is the chef’s interpretation of the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (famous Black Forest cake). Simply delicious.
Werner and Laux’s creations are complemented by a lovely wine list that features top wines from the hotel's vineyard.
Gernsbach area
Werners Restaurant is located in Gernsbach and nestled in the romantic Murg valley. This is one of the Black Forest’s largest and deepest valleys. From here, you can reach the famous spa and casino town of Baden-Baden within a few minutes by car.
If you’re a hiking enthusiast, you can join a guided tour – or explore the region on your own, as there are numerous hiking routes and mountain bike trails that run through the Black Forest’s hilly landscape.
Popular excursion destinations in the state of Baden-Württemberg include the beautiful university town of Tübingen with its medieval townscape and 16th-century castle. The city of Freiburg is known for its famous "Bächle", the narrow waterways in the alleys of the old town.
