A Sommelier with a Taste for Local Character
Danny Meijers, maître-sommelier and co-owner of G7, shapes the service and wine philosophy with the same clarity found in the kitchen. His wine list reflects the region, with a strong focus on Dutch and Belgian Limburg, supported by Central European bottles and a few classic European houses. Using the Coravin system, most wines are available by the glass, allowing guests to explore without committing to a full bottle. Danny’s style is warm, precise and rooted in hospitality. For him, a pairing should support the dish rather than push itself forward.
“A good pairing is never loud. It's like a natural fit, letting the dish show its best side.”
G7
G7 sits in the 1634 Gruizenkerkje in the heart of Sittard, a restored monument where contemporary dining meets centuries of history. The restaurant spans the old church and the adjoining 1593 timber-framed house, creating an intimate space shaped by soft light, flowing curtains and warm materials. Guests choose a menu of eight, ten or fourteen creations, revealed only through a hint of ingredients to keep the experience fresh and surprising. Much of the produce comes from G7’s own vegetable garden in Montfort and the pluktuin beside the restaurant, supported by local growers who share their respect for origin.
