Instead of a regular menu, restaurant Bootshaus offers new culinary highlights on the daily. Together with chef Stefan Brunnmayr, head chef Lukas Nagl’s mainly works with first-class regional products. Inspired by tradition and the Salzkammergut region, the team serves flavourful dishes that are uncomplicated yet refined. Much like the Bootshaus’ ambiance, the beauty of its cuisine lies in its simplicity. By merging global and local flavours, tradition and innovation, chef Lukas brings his own new Austrian cuisine to life in this lovely gourmet hotspot.
Traunkirchen area
Salzkammergut’s glorious landscapes are the perfect backdrop for various outdoor activities. Right next to the hotel, you’ll find excellent opportunities for water sports (a sailing boat just for guests), as well as a private swim dock and a wonderful lakeside wellness center. In summer, you can embark on (guided) hiking and biking tours, or play a game of golf. In winter, you can go skiing in the nearby Feuerkogel family ski area. If you want to do some sightseeing, you can visit the nearby town of Gmunden (known for its ceramics and home to the famous Austrian castle Schloss Orth) or the town of Bad Ischl.

Restaurant Bootshaus is located inside Das Traunsee – das Hotel zum See. This 4-star hotel is run by the Gröller family and situated on a scenic peninsular on Lake Traunsee, right in the heart of the Salzkammergut region. The hotel offers 38 rooms and suites. From the balcony you have a beautiful vista of the lake. If you’re staying at the Mini Lake Suites or the Salzkammergut Suite on the ground floor, you also have direct private access to the lake, as well as to the hotel’s own private dock. In addition, Das Traunsee’s is equipped with a wellness area, including a sauna, a steam bath, and a beauty salon. Here, you can indulge in an array of relaxing health treatments and massages.
