De Ertepeller’s cuisine
Chef Arjan's cooking style is contemporary Dutch with a traditional foundation. It’s his passion to work with local, seasonal products. According to Arjan, it's all about the flavour and how recognizable the food is. He respects the ingredients he works with. Specialties on the menu of restaurant de Ertepeller often include locally-caught fish, resulting in dishes like a composition of goose liver and eel in green herbs, or a steak tartare with caviar. A classic combination of rye wing and capers is mixed up with Dutch shrimp, celeriac, and caper leaves. Together with sommelier Mark van den Berg, the restaurant's experienced service team ensures that guests have an excellent culinary experience.
Papendrecht surroundings
Restaurant De Ertepeller has a cozy modern interior with eye-catching details, like designer lamps and soft carpet on the floor. Situated on the river, the windows offer an amazing view over the water and the surrounding area of Papendrecht. Papendrecht's inhabitants used to be called "Ertepellers" (pea peelers) by the Dordtenaren because they traded peas. The Papendrechters produced peas and other vegetables on their own plots of land, remnants of which you can see in the surrounding area. Across the river, you will find the city of Dordrecht with many interesting museums. A must-see is the Dordrechts Museum, showing 16th century to contemporary paintings.
