Daniel SchmidthalerDaniel Schmidthaler is chef at restaurant Klassenzimmer, sitauated in hotel Alte Schule Fürstenhagen. After developing his culinary skills in Upper Austria, he worked at restaurants throughout Europe. On Mallorca, he worked at restaurants Tristan and Formula 1, and in Germany he joined the kitchen teams at Quadriga and Kutscherhaus, where he met his wife. Together, they decided it was time for their own establishment and they opened their own hotel and restaurant in Fürstenhagen: the Klazzenzimmer.

Klassenzimmer’s cuisine
Chef Daniel Schmidthaler only works with high-quality, fresh products from the region. His menus are based on game from local hunting grounds, freshly caught fish from the lake district, delicious forest mushrooms, and natural herbs. At restaurant Klassenzimmer, the chef presents regional specialties as well as sophisticated creations. Sometimes you can also find one or two Austrian delicacies on the 6- to 9-course sample menu. Expect excellent food-and-wine pairings.
Mecklenburg area
You can find Hotel Alte Schule in the village of Fürstenhagen, in the Mecklenburg Lake District. No other federal state in Germany is so widespread, spacious and sparsely populated as Mecklenburg. This area is known for its idyllic countryside, historic castles, and numerous lakes. If you want to see more of the city, you can visit Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Greifswald, or Schwerin. Schwerin is the state’s capital and highlight – all thanks to its famous castle which is situated on an island and charmingly surrounded by a picturesque lake and park landscape. Further north, you’ll discover the more than 1700 km long Baltic Sea coast and the Müritz National Park, which attract more than five million tourists a year to the islands of Rügen, Usedom, and Hiddensee. In this area, much of the old has been preserved: from its Gothic architecture and untouched nature to the locals’ Low German dialect. It’s the perfect place for a quiet getaway.

Restaurant Klassenzimmer is located inside Hotel Alte Schule Fürstenhagen. Embedded in the idyllic Feldberg lake landscape, this family-run inn offers all the peace and serenity you could wish for. The main building of this country hotel used to be a school. Today, the classrooms have transformed into the gourmet restaurant, and the remaining rooms have been redesigned into 8 double rooms. Adjacent from the main building lies a newly-built guest house. This accommodation offers 10 duplex rooms with two rooms each. Their separate sleeping areas make these rooms ideal for families. These rooms are equipped with a balcony from where you have a lovely view of the peaceful surroundings.
