Modern classics with a Mediterranean touch
Chef Wolfgang Kerschbaumer cooks a classic modern style with a Mediterranean touch, guided by seasonality and a preference for the best regional products. His range is broader than you expect from such a small kitchen, moving from precise starters to fish, then on to meat with the same care. Dishes are prepared to order, with clean flavours, measured spice, and a light hand that keeps the menu easy to enjoy across courses. Vegetables, herbs and salads come fresh from field and garden, and desserts are treated with equal attention.
Garden dining and small groups
La Passion welcomes small groups of up to 30 guests for celebrations, with the same close attention as regular service. In warmer months, the garden becomes part of the evening, ideal for an aperitif before dinner or for enjoying part of the menu outdoors. Wine is also a strong feature: the list includes more than 250 selections, with bottles from South Tyrol, Italy and beyond, plus a choice of wines by the glass and a few rarities at approachable prices.
Vandoies and Val Pusteria
Vandoies (Vintl) is a quiet South Tyrolean municipality at the entrance to Val Pusteria, surrounded by the Fundres Mountains and close to routes for hiking and cycling. The area is known for local craft and produce, including Loden wool and Capriz goat cheese, and it works well for guests combining a meal with time outdoors. From Vandoies, it’s also easy to continue deeper into the valley towards the Dolomites, with small villages and mountain landscapes shaping the day.
Helena’s wine guidance
Service at La Passion is led by Helena Kerschbaumer, who looks after guests with warmth and strong wine knowledge. She guides pairings dish by dish, and the list is broad enough to suit different tastes, from sparkling to whites and reds, with a clear presence of South Tyrol alongside Italy and international bottles. If you prefer not to commit to a full bottle, the by-the-glass options make it easy to explore the cellar over the course of the meal.
