French Cuisine, Reduced to What Matters
The cuisine at BASIQUE is French at heart, stripped back to its essentials and cooked with precision, care and generosity. Classic brasserie dishes form the foundation, reworked with modern balance and high-level technique developed in some of Switzerland’s most respected kitchens. Nothing is overworked, nothing is showy. The focus is on depth of flavour, proper cooking and seasonal products handled with respect. It is gourmet food that feels familiar yet refined, proving that simplicity, when done well, is one of the most demanding and rewarding styles of cooking.
Cooking Classes and Private Experiences
BASIQUE extends beyond regular service through cooking classes and private chef experiences. Around a dozen times a year, demonstration workshops are held either in the restaurant kitchen or in unusual locations. In a relaxed setting, guests learn simple techniques using seasonal products, before tasting the dishes with paired wines. BASIQUE also offers private chef services, where one of the chefs prepares a menu in the guest’s own kitchen. These experiences reflect the restaurant’s open spirit and desire to share knowledge without hierarchy.

Sion is one of the oldest towns in Switzerland, surrounded by vineyards, Alpine peaks and historic landmarks. From the restaurant, guests are just steps away from medieval streets, local wine bars and the iconic Valère and Tourbillon castles. The Valais region is known for its strong identity, generous hospitality and connection to nature, making BASIQUE a natural reflection of its surroundings: grounded, welcoming and proud of where it comes from. Thanks to its central Alpine location, BASIQUE is perfectly placed for combining dining with adventure. Within 30 minutes, guests can go skiing, hiking, mountain biking, surfing or even skydiving. The restaurant is a natural stop before or after a day in the mountains, offering comfort and flavour without formality. It’s food designed to be enjoyed after movement, fresh air and shared experiences.
