Iris Bettinger is owner-chef at restaurant Reuter. After her culinary training at the Colombi Hotel in Freiburg, she worked at various restaurants in France, Hamburg and Munich. Since 2007, she is the owner and head chef at restaurant Reuter. She conjures up delicious classic French cuisine, seasoned with regional accents or refined with Far Eastern nuances. Her culinary efforts were awarded a coveted Michelin star and she was named “Best Chef of the Year” in 2014.

At restaurant Reuter, two generations – mother and daughter – cook together. The daughter, chef Iris Bettinger, combines French classics with regional specialties. Always according to the current season, you will find local seasonal produce on the menu here. Calves’ cheeks in red wine, shoulder of young boar, and kale with Mettwurst sausage are just some of the interesting and tasty dishes chef Iris can conjure up. Other specialties on the menu include pumpkin bread salad with feta cheese and apricot nut pesto; and veal paillard with pumpkin barley risotto and zucchini. Each dish can be perfectly paired with an excellent glass of wine from the extensive wine list.

Rheda-Wiedenbrück surroundings

Reuther restaurant is situated in the town of Rheda-Wiedenbrück, located in the district of Gütersloh, in North Rhine-Westphalia. This is the area where most people in Germany live. The coal and steel industries have long dominated North Rhine-Westphalia, and today it is one of the most economically strong regions in Germany. During the winter, skiers from this region flock to Winterberg in the Sauerland. In summer they sail up or down the beautiful river Rhine. Interesting sights in the area include Rheda Castle, standing guard over the town, and the historic St. Aegidius Church, just off of the Wiedenbrück Town Square.

Hotel Reuter, a family business since 1894 in the heart of Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Ostwestfalen-Lippe (NRW), offers a delightful blend of gastronomy and hospitality. Now led by Iris Bettinger and Marco Rückl, the hotel comprises 35 rooms, a Gastwirtschaft, and a Michelin-starred restaurant. Iris Bettinger, fourth-generation chef, combines classic French cuisine with regional and international influences.
Located in one of Germany's most beautiful historic towns, Reuter serves as an ideal base for cycling and hiking trips, golfing (with 18 golf courses within 50 km), and cultural explorations. The hotel also offers meeting facilities and spaces for celebrations.
