Unterwirt

Restaurant Unterwirt

Restaurant Unterwirt is a fourth-generation, family-run address in a small South Tyrolean village near the Dolomites. Guests move between the traditional Stuben and a summer terrace that looks out onto the garden and mountains, with a welcome that sets an easy tone from the start. In the kitchen, chef Alex Haselwanter works from South Tyrolean tradition, adding Mediterranean and Asian influences where they make sense. Local, seasonal produce is joined by ingredients from the kitchen garden, orchard and herb beds. The style stays light and precise, built around clear flavours and the landscape that surrounds the restaurant.

From Apprentice to Maestro Alex's Culinary Journey From a tender age, Alex's ardour for the culinary arts shone brightly. Raised in the shadows of the Alps, he was fortunate to glean the culinary craft first-hand from his father, a celebrated chef in the locality. Yet rather than simply treading in his father's path, Alex successfully crafted his distinctive culinary style; a charming fusion of classic Alpine gastronomy and the exuberant tastes of La Méditerranée.
