The Feeling in the Room
Sara Jann brings structure, warmth and instinct to Essort. Trained as a commercial specialist, she manages the organisation behind the restaurant, but comes fully alive in the dining room, where her talent for hosting becomes visible. Since July 2024, she and Ben have shaped Essort together with their team, building a place around food, wine, community and personal hospitality. Sara’s role is to make the experience feel smooth without becoming formal, so guests can settle in, ask questions and feel genuinely welcome.

Essort is a modern fine dining restaurant in Bern’s Kirchenfeld district, close to the Aare and set inside the former US Embassy. Since July 2024, Ben and Sara Jann have brought fresh energy to the restaurant, with a six-course tasting menu at the heart of the experience. The room combines high ceilings, warm wood, clear lines and an open kitchen, creating a setting that feels polished and personal. Guests come for pure, nature-led cooking, thoughtful drinks pairings and hospitality that makes the restaurant feel both refined and close.
