Salon 1905 — 10th Anniversary
Ten years ago, Salon 1905 opened with a simple ambition: to present Serbian culinary heritage through a contemporary fine dining experience. Today, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we look back on a decade that helped shape modern gastronomy in Serbia while welcoming guests from around the world to the heart of Belgrade.
The Building
Salon 1905 is housed in one of Belgrade's most significant early 20th-century buildings — the former Belgrade Cooperative at Karađorđeva 48, Savamala, designed by architects Andra Stevanović and Nikola Nestorović and completed in 1907. The building was financed by the philanthropist Luka Ćelović Trebinjac, who believed that Savamala would one day become the most important location in the city. He was right. Today, the neighbourhood is Belgrade's most creative and internationally recognised district, and the building remains one of its most striking landmarks.
A Decade of Fine Dining in Belgrade
When we opened our doors in 2016, the fine dining scene in Belgrade was small and largely uncharted. Our vision was clear from the start: to introduce international guests, expats, and food-conscious travellers to Serbian culinary heritage — through seasonal ingredients, precision, and genuine hospitality.
We were the first restaurant in Serbia to introduce a seasonal set menu only — no à la carte. From day one, we believed that the complete menu experience is the only way to fully express what a kitchen stands for.
Ten years later, Salon 1905 has welcomed over 30 heads of state and prime ministers, dozens of Hollywood's most recognised actors, and world-class athletes. We have become a destination not only for distinguished guests, but for food and wine enthusiasts who seek an honest, seasonal fine dining experience in the heart of Belgrade.
We are proud to have become a nursery for talent. We founded Salon 5 in Zemun, which today operates as S5a under the leadership of Anđela Rimšić — one of our alumni. Two other former team members, Vladimir Kučera and David Šimunić, have also gone on to open their own restaurants. All part of the JRE-Community. Today, the majority of those who have worked at Salon 1905 — chefs, sommeliers, and front-of-house — occupy leading positions across the Serbian and regional hospitality industry.
Salon 1905 is the first Serbian member of JRE. We hold 4 Toques and 17.5 points from Gault&Millau, a place among La Liste's Top 1000 restaurants in the world, and a Michelin Guide Inspector's Favourite designation.
A New Chapter
In March 2026, we welcomed Stefan Tomić as our new Head Chef. A Belgrade native and former competitive rower, Stefan spent his formative years living and working in Rome, where he developed a profound respect for freshness, seasonality, and ingredient-led cooking. He returns to Belgrade to interpret Serbian culinary heritage through a contemporary lens — focusing on balance, depth, and the natural character of each product.
The Spring 2026 Menu
Stefan's debut menu is a seasonal journey through the Serbian landscape, available as a 7-course seasonal tasting menu and a 5-course vegetarian menu. There is no à la carte — guests are invited to experience the full menu as the chef intended.
Chef's Welcome — Zucchini flower · Mushroom cappuccino · Mezze tartlet
Fisherman's Patience — Smoked trout tartare, compressed cucumber, confit trout, pickled spring onion
Into the Flame — Burnt leek, confit smoked egg yolk, goat cheese sauce, crispy leeks
Slow River — Zander fillet poached in aromatic butter, crushed potato salad, smoked butter beurre blanc with trout roe
Grandpa's Forest — Barbecue wild mushrooms with burnt garlic, mushroom demiglace, mountain kajmak foam
Seasonal Turn — Barbecue lamb fillet, spring peas, yogurt sphere, lamb jus with mint oil
Respect the Cut — Veal fillet, belly and sweetbread, asparagus, black garlic
Grandma's Door — Lavender ice cream, lemon meringue, white chocolate, lemon marmalade
The Wine Programme
Our wine list of over 250 carefully selected labels is curated by Sommelier Petar Prokić, one of Serbia's most respected figures in the world of wine. An active member of the Serbian sommelier community, educator, and spokesperson for Serbian wine culture, Petar brings both deep technical knowledge and a warmly personal approach to the table. His guiding philosophy is simple: "The art is not to pair wine with food, but with the person."
At the heart of the list is an exceptional selection of Serbian wines — indigenous varieties such as Prokupac, Bagrina, Grašac, Morava, and Tamjanika, sourced from producers who have dedicated their work to preserving these grapes for future generations. Serbian wines stand alongside the world's finest labels, from Burgundy Grand Crus to Bordeaux first growths. Every tasting menu is paired exclusively with Serbian autochthonous varieties — a rare opportunity to discover a wine culture that few international guests have encountered before. For guests who prefer a non-alcoholic experience, we also offer a bespoke zero-proof pairing — a series of house-made seasonal cocktails crafted entirely from Serbian ingredients, developed in our own kitchen.
Live Music & Private Events
Every Friday and Saturday evening, Salon 1905 hosts a live jazz band — one of the few fine dining restaurants in the region to offer this as a regular part of the dining experience. The music is carefully chosen to complement the atmosphere without overpowering the table.
For private occasions, the restaurant is available for exclusive hire for up to 80 guests, offering the full fine dining experience — tasting menu, wine programme, and personalised service — at the highest level.
