Michelin stars in JRE-Austria
The JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs also confirm their role as trendsetters in Austrian cuisine in the new Michelin Guide Austria 2025: 32 stars (22 1 star, 5 2 star), 14 Green Stars for sustainability and 5 Bib Gourmands underline their claim to the highest gastronomic quality, now also internationally.
Hangar7 in Salzburg provided the glamorous setting for the presentation of the Michelin Austria 2025 Guide in the presence of prominent figures from politics and business as well as a large number of national and international journalists. After a break of more than 15 years, the most important restaurant guide has now again integrated Austria into its test program. This guarantees that Austrian cuisine, but also agricultural and viticultural products, will be given immensely increased global exposure.
Michelin CEO Gwendal Poullennec was also impressed by the high quality of the Austrian restaurant scene and sees this first edition "as the beginning of a successful future for both sides!"
The results of the first edition were already extremely successful for the JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs (JRE). The current 43 Austrian JRE restaurants have a total of 32 classic stars plus an additional 14 Green Stars for special environmental ethics in combination with excellent cuisine. Not to forget 5 Bib Gourmands for establishments with fine cuisine and a particularly good price-performance ratio.
The 2 stars each for Thomas Dorfer (Landhaus Bacher), Vitus Winkler (Kräuterreich im Sonnhof by Vitus Winkler), Philip Rachinger (Ois im Mühltalhof), Sebastian Jakob (Griggeler Stuba, Burg Vital Hotel Oberlech) and Andreas Döllerer (Döllerer), who also has the “Sommelier of the Year” award with Alex Koblinger, were outstanding.
It is also extremely pleasing that a whole series of JRE chefs received the Green Star for sustainability in addition to the coveted Michelin star, and some also received the Bib Gourmand as a symbol of the best price-performance ratio.
