Badi

Restaurant Badi

Lovrečica is a small fishing village in Croatia that is just as idyllic as it sounds. Here, the Badurina-Badi family opened the doors of their fish restaurant in 1986. Ever since, Badi has been a hotspot for local gourmets and food connoisseurs from far and wide. The chef prepares the most delicious seasonal and sea specialties: traditional dishes and local flavours with a creative twist. These dishes are wonderfully paired with the excellent wine selection by the sommelier, Ivan Badurina, who is the owner’s son. Badi is recognized as one of Croatia’s top 100 restaurants. In addition, its Mediterranean cuisine was honoured with 15.5 Gault Millau points, 2 forks, and 87/100 points from Falstaff. You can dine inside or on the outdoor terrace which is surrounded by olive trees. Don’t forget to visit the modern wine bar afterward.

At his family’s restaurant, the wine selection is in hands of sommelier Ivan Badurina. Frankly, this is the perfect place to indulge in domestic wines while enjoying the homely ambiance that feels extremely friendly, warm, and inviting. Almost like you’re part of the family.

Badi’s cuisine

At restaurant Badi, the chef serves a beautiful blend of tradition, terroir, and creativity. The kitchen offers a vast selection of dishes. But the chef is particularly proud of the fish specialties, among which dishes made with raw fish, shellfish, and shrimp delicacies. Unsurprisingly, the house specials include tagliatelle with scampi and truffles, buzara with scampi, lobster and canestrelli, as well as brodetto with fish, shrimps and lobster tails. The homemade pasta with Istrian truffles is another popular choice among diners. The chef’s sea bass in bread was named “Dish of the Year 2014” by the Italian gourmet organization Magnar Ben. You can order à la carte or opt for a tasting menu if you’re more into the chef’s creative dishes. Next to Badi’s excellent wine selection, the restaurant also offers champagnes and sparkling wines to complement your culinary experience.

Umag area

Nestled between two towns, Umag and Novigrad, lie the village of Lovrečica and fish restaurant Badi. Despite the tranquil area, there are plenty of sights to explore in nearby Novigrad. A few interesting historical and cultural landmarks include Novigrad’s city walls, Moreno Ivancic Winery, Iglesia de Da Virgen Del Carmen, and Muzej Lapidarium. For relaxation, Pinesta Beach is within convenient reach. In other words, Badi is definitely worth the stop or detour, whether you’re visiting Istria or traveling towards a neighbouring country.
