Before Hanneke began her career as a sommelier, her profession had nothing to do with hospitality. For many years, she worked as a sociotherapist in child and adolescent psychiatry. Her partner chef Mathijs Jacobs opened restaurant De Beejekurf in 2013. A year later, Hanneke passed her WSET3 exam and joined the restaurant as hostess and sommelier, perfectly complementing the team.
A good sommelier is someone who moves along with the wishes of the guest, but still stands for their own philosophy.
