Christian F. Grainer doesn't work with recipes nor set menus. Instead, the chef simply follows his intuition – or his belly, as he states himself. Showing great culinary finesse, Christian has earned himself numerous hoods, pans, and other awards by simply sticking to his authentic old wood stove. At Christians Restaurant, the star chef brilliantly showcases his cuisine which can be described as simple and down-to-earth, yet incredibly refined. Although the chef himself describes his cooking style more modestly, as ‘good cuisine that fits Germany’. Just like his own favourite dish: duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings.

Chef Christian F. Grainer has been running his parents’ inn, Gasthof Grainer, since 1990. Dating back to the sixteenth century, this characteristic building is home to Christian’s gourmet restaurant. Here, the chef cooks up fresh regional dishes that attract gourmets from far and wide. It’s surely no surprise that his cooking has been awarded with a coveted Michelin star for over a decade now. In addition, Christians Restaurant has received 16 Gault Millau points and 7 pans from Gusto. You can wine and dine in one of the traditionally decorated dining rooms, including the beautiful ballroom with crystal chandeliers. During summer you can also enjoy Christian’s culinary delights on the terrace, where you’re romantically surrounded by chestnut trees.
